Kranjska Gora, the center of the Upper Sava Valley, is located on the borders of Slovenia, Austria and Italy, in the heart of the Alpine world. On one side it is surrounded by the magnificent Julian Alps and on the other by the mountains of Karavanke which hide the view towards Austria.

Access to the valley is enabled by road connection. The valley is accessible from the south side by the road from Ljubljana-Jesenice where the national road towards Kranjska Gora branches off. Kranjska Gora is connected to Austria by the road across Korensko sedlo/Wurzenpass and to Italy by the road link Kranjska Gora-Rateče-Tarvisio. Thus, the Slovenian highway is 20 minutes away from Kranjska Gora and Ljubljana is 85 km away. By car it takes about 15 minutes to reach Villach and Tarvisio where you can choose other destinations on the foreign highways.

The closest airports are Jože Pučnik Airport and Klagenfurt Airport near the town of Klagenfurt. Both airports are by car approximately 50 minutes away from Kranjska Gora. The closest Italian Ronchi airport is about 1 hour away. In Tarvisio and Villach are the international train stations (Vienna-Rome) and the closest Slovenian railway station is in Jesenice. From the airports and railway stations you can come to Kranjska Gora by renting the car or using public transport (bus, taxi service).
